My name is Jordan Martich. I'm a writer and musician from Indianapolis, IN, living in Oakland, CA. I write about music, environmentalism and social justice issues, as well as creative projects in fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels. I worked in the combined roles of editorial assistant and freelance writer, handling a wide range of projects for Indiana's largest independent alternative news organization. I successfully balanced the responsibilities of both positions, learning to work independently as a freelance writer but as part of a team as an editorial assistant.

● Published regularly in both NUVO and Indiana Living Green, including a feature-length cover story in December of 2013.

● As an editorial assistant I managed editorial process, including content planning, conducting interviews, and maintaining an editorial calendar in order to develop content and meet deadlines.

● I handled daily tasks like responding to press releases, gathering information from sources, and transcribing interviews for NUVO’s editors to assist with piecing content together.

● I trained interns and led them in group projects, like uploading entire issues of Indiana Living Green content to the website.

● As a freelancer writer, I covered reviewing albums, reviewing live concerts, writing profiles, transcribing interviews, writing feature stories and developing story ideas.

My freelance writing draws on my two great passions—music and writing. I’m fascinated with writing and the processes that surround it, while my experience as a musician influences the records and artists that I’m interested in writing about. Another concern of mine as a writer is environmentalism, sustainability, and the inspirational people who are leading us into a greener future.
